I created this timeline to visually depict some of the experiences I have had and the milestones in my life I am proud of. I believe that every person has a story to tell- a unique collaboration of moments in time that have shaped who they are.

This is my story.

 

2024

March -- Began serving as a board member for the Iowa City Foreign Relations Council

January -- Got engaged to Hannah may on January 7, 2024


2023

December -- Promoted to Assistant Director, Events and Stewardship in International Programs at the University of Iowa

August -- Selected as 1 of 24 members of the Greater Iowa City Inc. Community Leadership Program class of 2023-2024


2022

June -- Published “The Next Chapter” and “Remember When” on Amazon

April -- Purchased my first home in North Liberty, Iowa

February -- Started as the Event and Communication Project Specialist in International Programs at the University of Iowa


2021

June -- Published the “One Line a Day” journals on Amazon

May -- “I Dare you to Break Up with your Phone” was published in the Spring 2021 UMR-ACUHO Perspectives Magazine


2020

October -- Presented the session, “A Roadmap to your Professional Development Journey” at the 2020 UMR-ACUHO Fall Virtual Conference Experience and was awarded as a Top 3 Program Session

September -- Began serving as the McElroy G/H Hall Director in addition to my role as the Stadium Heights Hall Director.

August -- Cut my hair and donated 9.5” to the organization, Children with Hair Loss.

April -- “What the Deaf Community has taught me about Communication” was published in the Spring 2020 UMR-ACUHO Perspectives Magazine

April -- April 9 was “GOTCHA DAY” for my boy Riley- he’s a mix of 12 different breeds


2019

November -- Sixth trip to Jamaica- this time to visit/help with Deaf Can! Coffee and continue to gain new perspectives on people, culture, and time while travelling abroad

August -- Began teaching FYEX 100 - a First Year Seminar for students in the Maverick Success Program

June -- Launched Mankato Drinks online

March -- Fifth trip to serve alongside those at the Caribbean Christian Centre for the Deaf in Kingston, Jamaica, and as a leader for 60 college-aged students


2018

October -- “There’s Always Tomorrow” was published in the Fall 2018 UMR-ACUHO Perspectives Magazine

October -- My photograph, “Mornings in Mankato” was selected as the 2nd place winner in the Annual City of Mankato Photo Contest

October -- Began growing my hair out to donate to charity in a couple of years

March -- Fourth trip to serve alongside those at the Caribbean Christian Centre for the Deaf in Kingston, Jamaica, and as a leader for 50 college-aged students


2017

August -- Started as a Hall Director at Minnesota State University, Mankato

May -- Graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a MA in Postsecondary Education: Student Affairs

May -- Selected as a Dance Marathon Distinguished Leadership Award Recipient, 1 of 20 recipients in the country

March -- Third trip to serve alongside those at the Caribbean Christian Centre for the Deaf in Kingston, Jamaica

January -- Began a graduate assistantship with the Office of Academic Advising at UNI as the Graduate Assistant: Communication & Training/Development

January -- Began an internship with the Office of Enrollment Management at UNI


2016

November -- Began working at Sidecar Coffee Shop as a Barista

August -- Began a practicum experience in the Office of Student Life at UNI

July -- Became a small group leader for high school students at Orchard Hill Church

June -- Gained new perspectives on people, culture, and time while travelling abroad in Europe for a week

April -- Selected to lead UNI Dance Marathon 2017 as the Executive Director

March -- Second trip to serve alongside those at the Caribbean Christian Centre for the Deaf in Kingston, Jamaica

January -- Began a practicum experience in the Office of Student Success and Retention at UNI


2015

December -- Started working at Scratch Cupcakery as the Curbside Coordinator

August -- Began a graduate assistantship with the Office of UNI STEM as the Graduate Assistant: Communications

August -- Started my graduate degree at the University of Northern Iowa

May -- Graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a BA in Communications: Public Relations and a minor in Marketing

January -- Started working in the Office of Admissions at UNI as a Student Office Assistant


2014

May -- Began an internship with the Mediapolis Aquatics Center as Public Relations Intern

April -- Selected to serve as the Director of Public Relations for UNI Dance Marathon

April -- Elected Vice President of Public Relations for the Student Admissions Ambassadors


2013

August -- Began an internship with Prairie Lakes Church as the College Ministry Communications Intern

June -- Began an internship with Winegard Company as a Marketing Intern

May -- Began an internship with Great River Medical Center as a Human Resources Intern

March -- First trip to serve alongside those at the Caribbean Christian Centre for the Deaf in Kingston, Jamaica

February -- Elected President of the UNI Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa National Honor Society


2012

December -- Selected to join the Student Admissions Ambassadors

November -- Inducted into the UNI Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa National Honor Society

November -- Joined the Mississippi Valley Caller's Association as the Public Relations and Marketing Manager

August -- Began serving on theRiver Leadership Team

August -- Became a small group leader for middle school students at Prairie Lakes Church


2011

August -- Started my undergraduate degree at the University of Northern Iowa

May -- Graduated from Mediapolis High School
